Specialist Breast & Endocrine Surgeon - The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Adelaide
Dr Christine Lai is Senior Staff Specialist in the Division of Surgery at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, in Adelaide, South Australia. She works on the Breast and Endocrine Surgical Unit as well as General Surgical Clinics and participation on the General Surgical On Call Roster. She is also the Supervisor of General Surgical Training at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Calvary Hospital North Adelaide.
In addition Christine serves on state and national level committees within the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. She is a former Chair of the Younger Fellows Committee and current Women-in-Surgery Chair. She is the first female surgeon from South Australia to be elected to serve as a Director/Councillor bi-national RACS Council from May 2018.
Christine also maintains an active interest in ultrasound - in particular the application of clinician performed ultrasound. She is one of a handful of General Surgeons who has a full Diploma of Diagnostic Ultrasound (DDU).
Christine also has a private practice in the fields of Breast Cancer, Thyroid, Parathyroid & Adrenal Surgery and as aspects of elective general surgery including laparoscopic/open hernia surgery and cholecystectomies. She admits patients to Calvary Hospital North Adelaide and Western Hospital, Henley Beach. She consults at Western Breast Clinic, Calvary Hospital North Adelaide Consulting Suites and the Benson Radiology Salisbury's "one-stop" Breast-Endocrine Assessment Clinic.
