Associate Professor Timothy Cole has a tenured academic position at the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, Monash University in Melbourne. He is currently the Deputy Head of Department and leads a medical research group investigating cell signaling steroid endocrine pathways important for mammalian respiratory development and function.
Tim is a member of the Executive Council and the current President of the Endocrine Society of Australia. His main research interests are the developmental roles of the adrenal steroid hormones that act through nuclear receptors, particularly related to respiratory development and steroid-based treatments for preterm babies. Other interests include the use of synthetic steroids to treat a range of inflammatory and metabolic diseases.
