Abstract Submission Terms & Conditions

  1. The acceptance, timing, presentation, and discussion of all papers are at the discretion of the Scientific Program Organising Committee  
  2. All abstract submissions must be in English
  3. The closing date and time – AEDT 17:00 on Friday 25 October, 2019, is not negotiable
  4. Late submissions will not be considered under any circumstance
  5. Changes to submitted abstracts, or re-submission, will not be considered under any circumstance
  6. All submitted papers will be reviewed by the Congress Scientific Program Organising Committee following the close of the abstract submission process at AEDT 17:00 – Friday 25 October, 2019
  7. Each abstract will be reviewed based on the following criteria:
    • Is the abstract original?
    • Does it address an important scientific question?
    • Is the abstract clearly written with all salient facts?
    • Does the work adhere to ethical guidelines?
    • Is there evidence of statistical method if appropriate?
    • Are the conclusions justified by the results?
  8. Successful applicants will be notified of a verbal or poster presentation, by email only, no later than Friday 22 November, 2019
  9. Successful applicants will be advised at the time of notification of either a poster OR verbal presentation
  10. Verbal presentations are to be made during the free-paper sessions, to be held at any time during the following days of the Scientific Program:
    • Thursday 05 March, 2020
    • Friday 06 March, 2020
    • Saturday 07 March, 2020
  11. The allocation of date and time for presentations is not negotiable or changeable
  12. The person who has submitted the abstract is therefore the presenter, and the person who will be recognised for the research in the form of a certificate. This is not changeable under any circumstance and requests to change presenters will not be considered
  13. Presented abstracts will be published in the official abstract booklet 
  14. All successful applicants - verbal and/or poster, are required to register for the AsAES 2020 Congress.  Any applicant who has not settled their registration fee following the event will not be awarded the certificate of presentation.
  15. If authors wish to withdraw their abstracts from presentation or publication they are requested to notify the Event Manager via e-mail to sally.erickson@generalsurgeons.com.au
  16. All outlined requirements pertaining to FORMAT must be adhered to. Any submitted abstract that exceeds the advertised word count, will have all words over the word count deleted prior to the formal review process. An abstract template is available for those who choose to utilise it 
  17. Successful applicants will have their research scored on the day of their presentation for consideration of various research awards.  Awards will be presented during the Congress - details TBC
